The ancient Chinese Zodiac dates back over 2000 years. Complete with 12 animals, your zodiac animal is determined by your birth year. Each animal represents a single year—the cycle resets every 12 years. 2024 rings in the Year of the Dragon (So, the last Year of the Dragon was 2012).

The Chinese Zodiac year officially starts on Lunar New Year. The exact date fluctuates year to year but typically falls late January to mid-February. So, if you were born before your year's Lunar New Year, you might actually be the sign of the previous year.

Order Matters
Legend says that the Jade Emperor, the first emperor of China and the supreme ruler of heaven and earth, chose to divide up time in cycles of twelve years—with each year named after an animal.
